The Swift we get is a re-badged Chevy Aveo. It definately does not look like that beauty in the pics.

This is why GM sucks, in Japan, Suzuki offers this Swift Sport. All we get is the crappy Aveo trim.

now that's much better, i will defenetly buy one, if i could, either way they both look good, only that the sport is much much better looking

The MINI shows that Americans will buy small cars. But what do we know, GM/Suzuki thinks we would rather drive those warmed over Daewoos

Why do I get the feeling that this cars exterior was inspired by Audi and VW and the interior by the Golf V GTI?

I've always liked the look of these cars. They look like they'd be tons of fun with about 130-150 hp. I'd test drive it if I were looking for a new car immediately and it were here.

It's sold in Canada as the Suzuki Swift, Chevrolet Aveo and Pontiac Wave. We'll just have to wait and see of this all-new Swift goes on sale here as well (I don't see why it wouldn't)

The badges look like they were forced on to that car.

Methinks GM won't replace the Daewoo Swift with a Suzuki Swift as they need to keep any market open that will buy their well-intended but second-rate products.Of the upcoming small hatches (Versa, Jazz/Fit, Yaris), the real Suzuki Swift looks like it would be the most entertaining. Tiff drove a 1.3L 93hp model on last week's Fifth Gear and quite liked it. Shame we likely won't have a chance to enjoy it here.

GM had nothing to do with the decision not to import the new Swift. The Suzuki USA dealers were asked early in development if they wanted the car, to which they replied no. Then they saw the completed car and wanted it imediately. Unfortunately for them and for us, it was (is) too late to get the car modifed and approved for North America. We'll see a new Swift when the car is replaced in 2009/2010.
Suzuki Canada gets lost in all this as they had to live with Suzuki USAs bonehead play, and thus, needing a small car to sell, went to GM to get a rebaged Aveo.

Man, I'd have a hard time choosing between whatever zingy motor the Sport model has or the diesel that's attached to the other end of this tach:

Because you need to update the prescription on your glasses.

Our car market here is substantially different from the US market, and it's about time car makers started realizing this.

It doesnt have to match exactly , but you can tell its there.
1. look at the bumper fog lights = Audi
2. bottom of center console = VW GT5
3. look at the controls inside the door = VW
etc...its deff. there.

It's amazing that only Audi and VW out of all the manufacturers in the whole world employ designers that have the capacity of originality.![]()

That dash remind me of the first gen CRX with the orange backlit clock up in the center under the windshield.I'd rock that car in a heartbeat.

OMG, three rectangular ducts, two of them housing fog lights, no one exept for Audi has ever used a bumper design like this.

Sorry to burst your bubble but this console layout has been used in plenty of cars for plenty of years. Ever sat in a SN95 Mustang.

Uh, okay. Never mind that we're almost eight years beyong the MkIII. What's wrong with assuming that a small car engine with a 5,000 rpm redline is a diesel and not a lump of an 8v VW engine? <--- this is me assuming (again!!!! oh noes!).

Yeah. I would probably drive one if it looked like that. Aveo PASS.
I guess to me when you are dealing in micro cars it's either going to look "Fun" or "Financially" influenced.AVEO screams inexpensive car.
This Swift is saying fun. That's My Opinion.
(I still wish I could have a 4 door mini cooper diesel.)
