Was a Transport Canada test car... said 4.9L per 100kms on the side, and a big DIESEL sticker. On the back it had the website http://www.tc.gc.ca/auto

Car looked really nice, save for the back end which was rather flat and unattractive.

Seemed to have phenomenal midrange pull (for its size/type of car/engine) - the driver went from around 120 to 140kph to pass a car and my A4 lost ground (I wasn't flooring it... but I have no reason to believe she was either... just one of those small provocations needed to drop an automatic out of lockup mode and give a few more RPM for passing).

I got along side it, looked it over... looked over the rather sexy girl driving it, she gave me a kind of polite but devilish grin that I basically understood as "I know you know what this car is, and I know you want tons of info on it, but you ain't getting any"

......................... I passed her and yelled out "damnit why do I never carry a camera!!!"

-- Probably GOOD news for all of you who want Honda's diesel 2.2L engine to come over to Canada in the next couple years tho!!

This is what camera phones are for. You fail for not getting pics of the girl. Go sit in the corner.

Pretty much the same version we get here:

Honda's 2.2's have been quite expensive here, but come 01.01.2007 the displacement-component of our tax will be replaced by a co2-one, which for the Civic, CR-V and Accord i-CTDi 2.2 spells an 11-15% pricedrop.

The Honda CRDi is coming to the US in a couple years - I don't remember if it's supposed to be calendar year 2008 or model year 2008.

Seems like a fantastic engine. I like that Honda isn't married to any one tech - hybrid, diesel, natural gas, H2 fuel cell, lean-burn gasoline, they've experimented with all of it and put them all in production.

Hajduk from this forum actually works for TC and seems to have intimate knowledge of the advanced vehicle program. Hopefully he'll chime in at somepoint.

It doesn't mean a diesel TSX is coming to Canada, though. TC seems to test these things for policy purposes... to understand the pollution-reduction technologies available. Honda will be bringing a diesel soon anyway, but it definitely won't be this (soon to be retired) body style.

Not me, it's too old, both safetywise, and by interior look and feel, I would however not mind having the funky 55mpg Civic 2.2 i-CTDi.

Even in gasoline engine form a TSX wagon would be pretty cool. Anyone else find the amount of "car" behind the rear wheels a bit too much though? The proportions are a bit odd. I saw a lot of these in person...but always found the proportions behind the rear wheels a bit off.

Still a really nice car though.

I still say that the person that is responsible for the styling of the rear end of that car should be taken outside and beaten.

This car is really really long in person. I don't know if it's an optical illusion thing or if it is in fact longer in dimension. Definitely not very TSX'esque. Just imagine the current USDM Accord in wagon form, but with a TSX nose tacked on, that's what it looks like in real life.

Too old? New for the 2003 model year is too old? It's exactly the same as an Acura TSX.

I worked for this program at one time and drove this Accord quite a bit including some track time. The engine is the most refined diesel I've ever driven - it doesn't even sound like a diesel. The performance isn't quite as good as a BMW 2.0 (20hp more) but not bad. When I first drove it I felt the handling was a bit soft and the steering too light but once I got it on a track it actually felt better. The steering had decent feel and the suspension was very composed - more tossable than a 3-series but not as much grip. The shifter didn't have a good precise feel to it though. The cargo bay is huge. A colleague of mine drove it to the east coast of Canada and averaged over 60 mpg (Imperial).

I think the interior looks dated in many respects, and a 4 star EuroNcap is not enough in todays market.

But you own a new car that got a 4-star rating.

Sorry Sir <hangs head in shame>

Yah... I need a new cellphone... im using a basic Sanyo phone right now (my "cool" phone with actual features died after a year into my 2 year contract so I didn't want to spend $300 to replace it with an equivilant at mid contract - this only cost my 99 bucks), no camera, no games, no nothing... but the actual "phone" part works awesome (I'm looking into the Razor line from Motorola)

Euro Accord gets an interior that looks more like the USDM Accord. TSX gets its own interior.

Which still doesn't look dated, IMO.

Actually, TSX's interior is similar to the Honda Inspire interior. It's all swapped in Japan... The Honda Inspire exterior looks like USDM Honda Accord but with the Acura TSX interior.

Couldn't find a direct link to a pic.. but you can see on here: http://www.honda.co.jp/INSPIRE....html

actually honda use 2 exteriors and 2 interiors to make 4 models... let say there are standard and nicer interior and bigger (US accord) and smaller (TSX) exterior

bigger exterior + standard interior = US Accord
bigger exterior + nicer interior = Inspire (japan)
smaller exterior + standard interior = JDM accord
smaller exterior + nicer interior = TSX (US)

btw, Inspire actually is "down graded" because last gen Inspire is actually last gen TL for US.

If Honda doesn't introduce the 2.2 CRD-i for the 2008 Accord in the U.S. market they are missing out on BIG TIME sales.

Only problem is making it as small a premium over the petrol I4 as possible. No more than $1500-$2000. Otherwise people won't buy it if it costs just under the V6 price.

Well they're missing buyers more and more. The Accord is getting absolutely killed by the Camry these days. They need to do anything they can to try to hold on to some of their buyers.

Yeah, if you count Camry fleet sales.
