Why not use the top model Atom? Aren't the others on the list top models, and more expensive too?

I love the Atom...but my God the Z06 keeps some fast company for a $70k production car!![]()

Personally, I think the Z06 showed everyone up in overall competence.

Which is probably why it was ranked the winner in the comparo. Information that the OP seems to have left out.

As Much as I love the Atom, for that kinda $$$, I'd take an Elise/Exige...It's got doors and a windshield!!!
Also, of interest, it mentions that the Ariel in the US is powered by the Cobalt SS's Engine/Transmission....

Im very surprised the 911 bested the Atom in that test. What is the brake setup on the Atom?

Fair enough. At least they had the decency to offer a 10 cylinder car even if they call is a Carrera

It's called a Cayman/Boxster. The 911 design isn't going anywhere. If you don't like it, get something else.

Yes, all the others have tops. *cymbal crash*

the fact that it is rear engined helps breaking tremendously.

Looking at the numbers, they were all very competitive and no car "dominated".What the Z06 makes up in speed is loses out, relatively speaking, in handling and braking. What the Exige doesn't have in straight line performance it seems to make up in tossability.
Judging by the overall numbers, to me it looks as though the GT3 was the best "all around" performer (prince notwithstanding).Of course, having driven exactly ZERO of the listed cars, who am I too make a judgment.
how come a transvestite donkey witch is next to you and why is it wearing a dress?
Say 'what' again. Say 'what' again, I dare you, I double dare you mother****er, say what one more Goddamn time!

The Z06 losing out in handling, and braking, is fairly laughable.
BTW: this is a repost.
#24
Why is it laughable? It finished dead last in both handling categories and middle of the pack in braking performance.

The Corvette was the only car on street tires. All the others are known as "DOT R" race tires, common to autocrossers and road racers who don't want to run a full slick. Let me help explain it in picture form.Corvette tire (UTQG 220):
Porsche tire (UTQG 80):
Lotus & Atom tire (UTQG 60):
Noble M400 tire (UTQG 60):
Brock coupe tire (UTQG 30):

Why? It's true.

Quote, originally posted by Shomegrown » Why? It's true.
Because, the fact that the engine is hanging off its rear end doesn't really contribute to its tendancy to break, unless you count people smashing them due to snap oversteer (which has largely been dialed out since the 993).
Now if we're talking about braking, that's a different story.

How does the Atom dominate if it's mid pack in each of the statistics you cite?
#33
The performance is so close as to be unimportant unless driven in anger, on a track, by a skilled driver.
On looks alone I'd take the Brock Coupe.
