http://jalopnik.com/cars/new-c...2.phpThis thing is slightly bigger than the original Caravan and the current bunch of mini-minivans (Kia Rondo and Mazda5.)

It looks good -- it amazes me how Chrysler's product development seems soo bi-polar: you get great vehicles like the Grand Cherokee and 300C, followed by the Compass and Sebring, followed by the Wrangler and this.
My only complaint is that the gauges look straight out of my dad's old 1990 Caravan...![]()

I saw one of these dudes cruising around the other day. I say it's about a Ford Edge, squished and lengthened a teensy bitEdit - I just looked at the gallery. DAYAMNNN!

you know, this might turn out to be a really good vehicle. the spy shots of the interior made it look like crap! but those release pics look promising. cool stuff in that video.

Wow, much better than expected.

Nice exterior ..However that interior looks suspiciously cheap..but too early to tell. Especially that gauge pod.

In markets outside North America, Dodge Journey offers a modern 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine available with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transaxle. This 16-valve diesel engine is a state-of-the-art direct-injection power plant with high-pressure fuel injection, a variable geometry turbocharger and four valves per cylinder. The injectors are electronically controlled for high power and torque output and optimal fuel efficiency. Maximum power is 140 horsepower DIN (103 kW), and peak torque is 229 lb.-ft. (310 N•m). The engine is expected to deliver excellent overall performance and fuel economy of under 7 liters per 100 km (European combined cycle). A diesel particulate filter is standard from the factory.we always get screwed somehow.

LOL, yeah, and with this and the upcoming Hyundai Genesis all we need now is for Ford to come out with the Foreigner. That, or someone resurrects REO in order to build a modern day Speedwagon.

Agreed. I really think the fact that companies like Ford and Chrysler are IGNORING the diesel option in the USA, especially when the future of diesel is BIO diesel, reveals their myopic vision.

That pretty much sums it up. This looks like an excellent vehicle, very practical, good looks and features. But then they create a few good, then a few bad, over and over and over.

All the more reason to question the competence of so called upper level management at such organizations, no matter how well schooled at Wharton they were.If they can coax something like the Journey out of the organization WHY not more consistency in the product offering, and they need to get on the stick about diesel for cross over /passenger vehicles.

I'm disappointed that there's only a four-speed transaxle with the four-cylinder engine, though. I bet that would be a bit of a dog...

Surprisingly good-looking...I'm particularly glad that they integrated the crosshair grille into the design without it ending overly large or looking heavy-handed. I don't like the light-colored inserts on the seats and door panels, but otherwise the interior looks decent - hopefully the quality will be above some of their recent offerings.

I think it looks great on the outside, very sharp. It's masculin without trying too hard in a goofy way (see: Caliber), I like that it's squared off in the rear, no jelly bean here. Very handsome overall.![]()

It is a close cousin to the Mitsubishi Outlander. Mitsu & Chrysler were developing a joint platform but due to the break-up they finished them on their own. (Caliber, Patriot, Lancer, Outlander now Journey)
I have an 07 Outlander XLS. I prefer the styling of it over this new Dodge cousin, as well as the 4wd option in the Mitsu. You can run 2wd, 4wd Auto (15% torque to rear with more as needed) or 4wd Lock (at least 50% torque to the rear at all times). The ability to select 4wd lock when towing makes a huge difference when you are dealing with front drive in the 2wd mode. I used 4wd Lock when towing home my 91 Jetta GLI two weeks ago. In 2wd it wandered all over the road, while in 4wd Lock, it towed like a dream. My first impression of the Journey was that they sure put plenty of buttons on the dash! (depending on trim level)
A not real great picture of my Outlander & Boat

Why would Dodge use a 4-speed auto with the 2.7 in the NAR and a 6-speed with the same engine in ROW applications?![]()
