My Tacoma wants that front bumper.

looks a lot like the latest GMT900 trucks to me. particularly the rear 3/4 view and some of the interior.

I'd say with proper maintenance most any new vehicle will make it to to 250k miles.

Barring any unexpected happenstance and excluding notoriously unreliable models, I would say this cannot be argued.

Which of those affects the 4Runner? You know, the vehicle we're talking about which is known for its longevity?

All of them, apparently, since Consumer Reports no longer automatically recommends any new or completely redesigned Toyotas for precisely those reasons.

I think it looks like an improvement. I will actually give Toyota credit *gasp* that they have had the balls to buck the let's turn our mid-size SUV into a unibody crossoever trend. Looks aggressive.

I'm anxious to see the rest. The teaser pics look great! Looks more retro/squared off like a modern FJ62

The leaked C&D pics have it looking more like a Highlander

Either way, it would be nice if they offered the electric locker from the FJC.

I created this threat but it somehow disappeared from my watched topics

    anyways, more pics

I'm guessing this will get negative responses, but I'm withholding my opinion for a while. When the current gen. 4runner came out it took me a bit to warm up to it. I think I will end up loving the design. The cargo area is pretty awesome.

    Calling Turbiodiesel!

    Wow?

It's like a Highlander on roids. That humped a ??

    I like.

I'm sure its going to be astronomically expensive.

I wonder what will become of the Tacoma, considering it's just a truck version of the 4Runner. Looks good, I didn't like it at first, but its a handsome truck, I'm glad they kept it looking like a truck,

  11. 09-10-2009 12:11 AM #46
Being objective I think it looks how an SUV should look. However the similarities to the Highlander overshadow the attractive elements because of the impression I have of the Highlander. Strange, I know. Much better than the gross Sequoia. Would like to see a built-in antenna at this price.

So.. it's like the latest Landcruiser had it's way with a current gen 4Runner.. not loving it yet.. will hold judgment till I come across it in the wild..

I don't believe so. 4Runner and GX470 are Land Cruiser Parado based. No more Tacoma connection, I believe.

The cargo area is pretty needlessly and overly complicated

Cross your eyes and tell me that is not a Sequoia... as an owner of an '89... they have lost sight of what a 4Runner is... Hummer is calling, they want their business strategy back.

  17. 09-10-2009 01:36 AM #52
what i dont like is how the greenhouse and everything below the beltline is not in proportion to each other.

  18. 09-10-2009 02:44 AM #53
Looks to me like the fender is pushed into the tire....immobilized.

  19. 09-10-2009 09:43 AM #54
Its growing on me actually. Put some REAL tires on it though, the tires Toyota puts on the 4runner are absolutely useless.

I never understand how auto manufactures modernize a car/truck by adding projector lamps, led tails etc.. but then go back to huge ugly multi reflector headlamps and incandescent tails with the next version? Best example is how the previous Honda Accord got the full rear led treatment when it was last facelifted. The current model came out and it has incandescent tails.

I'll wait to see it in person before I judge it, but I'm not sure the point of the cargo area having a slide out tray that probably can only support 150lbs.

Also I never find pictures to be a good representation of a vehicle.

The one in the 2007+ Dodge Nitro can hold 400lbs and looks quite similar FWIW.

Yeah but the one in the Nitro seems better designed.. like it's integrated into the trunkspace.. the one in this 4Runner looks like an afterthought..

Okay, It's not pretty, but I'm kind of digging it in these newer pics. It looks less Highlander-ish and more like a Tonka Truck.

I like it, is an improvement!

    This:

is way better looking than this:

I like the rear part stands up so when you pull the tray, stuff don't fall backwards.

I like it. Looks much better than the original teaser led me to believe. Now, what's that cube thingie in the rear cargo area? I see that it has 12v outlet in it, but there's got to be more to it than that?

  32. 09-10-2009 04:18 PM #67
All they are showing is a new Limited model so far huh?

    SR5?

    Base?

Probably to place the optional converter they already offer in other vehicles like the Tacoma and FJ for example..

    edit: too slow.

Looks like its getting increasingly utilitarian, like the Xterra.
