Thread: Steampunk Cars

  1. 11-15-2009 02:12 PM #1
Inspired by someone's mention of "steampunk-ing" a rat rod in the rat rod thread, I Googled "Steampunk", got really curious at the results, and then Googled "Steampunk car". The results were REALLY interesting. Thought I'd share!

She admitted this week that she has never actually heard a Jay-Z song.
Her excuse- she didn't write the song, just sang it.

I am confused, since I don't read TeenBeat or whatever....

I know who Miley Cyrus is.
I know who Jay-Z is. (and why 2 of him makes a good engine swap)
But what I don't know is what the heck you are talking about.

Okay, here's the cliff-notes for you. Miley Cyrus makes reference to "listening to a Jay-Z song" in her song, "Party in the USA". Problem is, apparently she has admitted to never listening to Jay-Z. Which means someone else wrote the song she's singing. But thats OK, I still love her and her music.

Now do I need to explain lip gloss, bubblegum, and training bras to you as well? Sheesh.

Thats what I'm waiting for too. You'd better just go ahead and hit it now, so you don't have to fight me for her.

This sort of treatment is unacceptable. I expect better from The Car Lounge.

I'm not sure how we went from Steampunk to Mily Cyrus but I now believe we can achieve anything.

There's nothing steampunk about photoshopping a wristwatch movement onto the side of a car.

My only question to you is, how could you not see that? None of them write their own music.

On topic, I'm glad to finally know what that style is called. Its the theme in Wild Wild West, which everyone hated for not being period accurate. Very cool.

Yeah- because you know I read Eleventeen.

Actually, we listen to the radio at work. I know that's probably not something most people are familiar with now since they simply must listen to a specific playlist of chosen MP3 songs to keep their fragile sanity, but honestly- there are actually radio waves being played right now that you can listen to for free with an easily bought radio device.

And yes, we do listen to a pop/hip-hop/rock station, and they do cover entertainment "news". How else will I find out that Britney is possibly pregnant again? (shrug)

who gives a sh*t about all that nonsense? pop culture is such a brain drain.

Brain drain- no. And I didn't say I liked hearing the celeb news.

Pop means popular. So it's actually beneficial to know a bit of pop culture for the sake of interacting with others not in your close group.

And since you claim pop culture is so bad- you better not quote any lines from a classic movie or tv show. IOW- we all choose what parts of "pop" culture we like. But it's still pop culture.

No it is a visual reply to the quoted segment of your post. Heck I don't even know what an upstuck is.

If your social awareness were in tune, you'd get the joke.

Have any of you steampunkers seen The Mysterious Explorations of Jasper Morello? It's an animated film from Australia - and it's incredible!
    Very dark, but quite steampunk-ish.
