The BMW 20 way multi-contour (comfort seats) are a must.....they're not cheap but are just about the nicest seats you can get in a car.
BMW uses nicer plastic in the interior than the M, which is a harder plastic.
That aside, I don't really think the 5 series has all that exciting of an interior but not low on quality...just not that pleasing to look at. My oldman has an 06 550i. Front leg room is not great.
The new X5 has a nice interior, how the 5 series should look.
I'm diggin the new rear end. The tail lights on the debut model were too disproportionate and made rear look bloated and top heavy. It was one hideous set up that killed the good looks of the M. Now with the tailights styled in a horizontal fashion, the car's rear end finally matches up with its sporty nature.
'Glorified Maxima'? One is RWD/AWD, the other is FWD only. One offers a V6 or a V8, and the other offers just a V6. Using your theory, the RL is a glorified Accord right?
Actually, the RL is in fact a glorified Accord - a really nice one.

It's nice if you're taller than 5'5". The back rest is too tall for me no matter how I adjusted it, I couldn't put my head where it should be on the headrest. No, I don't want to use a cushion. I use to drive a company's 530i around, while it's nice, it just wasn't comfortable for someone my height.
What doesn't kill me only postpones the inevitable.
I'll tell you what - we'll trade height. Once you are 6'2", you will be able to drive BMWs easily. And once I'm under 5'5", I can finally be competitive in an F2000.

Only if that's possible.

Again, the car IMO flows better, the V-8 with AWD option is fantastic. The rear is from a 2004 Avalon.
This is like people saying the new G37 rims are copies of the IS-F rims...when in fact Infiniti has had rims styled in that fashion long before Lexus ever considered the word "performance."

Nice way to change the subject. How hard is it to admit that the taillights are identical to a 2003 Avalon?
"Of course, that's just my opinion. I could be wrong."

Oh, man... What started off as a simple ass pounding for Toyota is now turning into a full blown ATM gangbang.
Now go in your time machine and try to argue again
Look man, you insisted that the M taillights came from the Avalon; I proved you wrong. Accept it and get over it.
But just for kicks, I'll take you up on your challenge again. Say hello to the 1985 Nissan MID4, a car whose unveiling predated the premiere of the E34 by 2 years:
Obviously the M35/45 has nothing to do with a Maxima platform (except for the use of the VQ engine), but I gotta say, the profile from this angle is pretty similar to the godawful, lumpy, frumpy profile of the Maxima.
I like the M45, a lot. I just wish Nissan had styled it just a hair better here and there.
1978 Honda Accord (gone), 1986 VW Jetta (gone), 1987 Saab 900 (sold for a pittance, tears in my eyes), 2000 VW Passat (sold), 2001 Saab 9-3 Viggen (sold), 2004 Volvo V70R (still going strong), 2005 VW Golf TDI (lemon), 2006 Saab 9-2x (sold), 2008 Mazda CX9 (family hauler).

Not really seeing it- if anything, I see quite a bit of, wait for it, IMPALA in this picture. With a much nicer snout. The Maxima doesn't come close to looking as cohesive as this, and the only think you might say they have in common is their C-pillar... but even that is stretching it.
I love this car now. And I'll admit, even though I like the back better, the lights reminded me of the last-gen Avalon. Which in turn reminded me of enlarged BMW E46 lenses.

A bone stock 99 Jetta 1.8T. The car would be $8000, but I'd spend the other $62,000 on window regulators, MAFS, and clutches.
I think the current one is one of the best mid-large sports/luxury sedans available...love em. It seems the new one lost a little bit of the sporty-edge look...but still a great design.
I will buy slightly used RL before getting anywhere near this glorified Maxima.
Wow what hate for Infiniti. Its one thing you don't like your G, and its your right, but how does it relate to all Infinitis?
"glorified Maxima" ? do you know anything about cars? This is a RWD platform, how is it a Maxima? it doesn't look (inside and out) like a Maxima, doesn't drive like a Maxima, and doesn't use the same chassis...

In that photo, it actually echos the previous M45 that was sold here.
Have you ever seen one in person or in your rearview mirror on the road? The front end of this thing is one of Nissan's best ever designs, second to the previous G35.

My Corolla hasn't broken down once since 2001, it's been paid off for most of that time, and it's about as satisfying as masturbating with a boxing glove.
the GS was the fastest automatic sedan on the planet at one point.
*ack*
I have to see your source on this. I've been trying to think of when it might have been true - it would make a hell of a trivia question for car guys - but I can't.
The first-gen car would have been slower in both 0-60 and top speed than any number of V-8 German cars, most particularly the 500E.
The second-gen V8 was never any faster than the 540i and certainly slower than the C36 and E55, to say nothing of the automatic-transmission E36 M3.
The third-gen V8 exists in a world which includes the AMG and Alpina cars.
It's possible that the twin-turbo Toyota Crown Aristo first-gen car was an outside contender for fastest automatic sedan, although it would have to be "quickest" since the W140 600SEL would have been capable of a higher top speed. But allowing a Crown Aristo to hold a record for the "Lexus GS" would poke a hole or two in the idea that Lexus is a separate brand

Any infiniti/lexus thread always has to get trollish. why cant people just stop the hate and appreciate? and if you dont appreciate, then do so in a constructive manner
i liked the M as is/was, this makes it better in my book This is probably my fav class of vehicles as far as competition.
